A SUMMER fair is coming to Hillmorton to mark the centenary of the neighbourhood War Memorial, the Royal British Legion and the Hillmorton Ex-Servicemen’s Club and Institute.
Events will begin on Armed Forces Day – Saturday June 26 – when the Hillmorton Branch of the Royal British Legion will hold a Commemoration at the Hillmorton War Memorial, attended by Mayor Deepah Roberts and Warwickshire Royal British Legion chair Gillian Guy, with music from the Jaguar Land Rover Band.
Hillmorton Branch chair Kathryn Lawrence said: “We would love members of the public to gather at 11.45am, observing social distancing on the village greens, for short Commemoration Event.
“Veterans and anyone who has a relative whose name is recorded on the Memorial would be especially welcome.”
At 1pm, the Mayor will open the Hillmorton Centenary Summer Fair in the car park of Hillmorton Ex-Servicemen’s Club.
The Police Safer Neighbourhood Team will be offering free security marking for cycles, and the Fire and Rescue Service will arrive at 2pm.
The Band will be playing and there will be a variety of stalls, including a DVD sale, books, tombola, cakes and jams, plants, and crafts.
In the evening there will be live music from 1921-2021. Tickets cost £10, including a buffet supper, and are available from the Club or by calling 01788 543832.
St John the Baptist Church will hold a Community Fun Afternoon at the Church on Sunday June 27.
Club Management Committee chair Andrew Was said: “We do hope that the community will come along and show their support.”
