A GARDENING grand-slam is being celebrated at a Rugby care home.
Anya Court Care Home beat 18 other Hallmark Care Homes across England and Wales to win Best Gardening Club at the annual Hallmark in Bloom contest.
The Dunchurch Road home was praised for its use of outdoor space, garden innovation and residents’ engagement in the company-wide competition.
And during the judges’ visit to the home in July – which coincided with a 1940s-themed celebration – resident Gerald Dyer, 81, was presented with the Carry on Gardening award in recognition of his horticultural efforts.
Anya Court lifestyles team leader Sue Mitchell said: “We had a vision of what we wanted to achieve in our little garden sanctuary and the residents and lifestyles team worked very hard to achieve this.
“The residents are incredibly proud and are spurred on to even better results next year.”
