A CELEBRATION of ancient woodlands marked the official launch of a scheme to restore and care for a swathe of Warwickshire countryside.
A Woodland Open Day at Ryton Pools Country Park highlighted work being done to conserve Dunsmore Living Landscape – a wooded heartland linked by a network of hedgerows and meadows which stretches from the outskirts of Coventry and Leamington to the Fosse Way.
Visitors discovered how woods were managed in years gone by through activities including horse logging, green woodworking, bug hunts, wood turning, hedgerow basketry, foraging walks, storytelling and natural archery.
