NUISANCE behaviour is being targeted by a task group of Rugby Borough councillors.
The councillors want to know if people are causing problems for residents which the council could tackle.
With Public Space Protection Orders (PSPOs) already in force in Rugby to deal with street drinking and dog fouling, the Rugby Borough Council (RBC) PSPO task group has launched a consultation to find out what other nuisances they could crack down on.
Task group chairman Coun Neil Sandison said: “All councillors are aware of issues within their wards that cause problems or inconvenience to residents. We’re interested in finding out how much of a problem these behaviours are, and whether residents think that enforcement through a PSPO is an appropriate way to deal with them.
“These problems could include commercial fly-tipping, camping on public spaces, motor cycling or horse riding on public footpaths, or drinking and smoking near children’s play areas.
“There may be other problems in specific areas that residents would like us to tackle, so this consultation is to find out what those problems are.”
RBC environment and public realm spokeswoman Coun Lisa Parker added: “When backed by residents, Public Space Protection Orders can be an effective tool to address low level crime or nuisance behaviour.
“This consultation will give us valuable information about the types of behaviours that residents would like us to deal with, and I hope that everyone takes the opportunity to have their say.”
