THE MAGIC of song is being celebrated at Rugby Art Gallery and Museum this weekend.
Visitors will be invited to celebrate their favourite songs through a novel ‘hanging mixtape’ on Saturday (September 23).
Inspired by famous lyrics, artist Michaela McMillan has created a series of mini-sculptures featuring lines from songs.
The project links the gallery’s current exhibitions What Do I Need to Do to Make It OK? – which features contemporary crafts exploring the themes of repair and restoration – and Music in Rugby, a celebration of the town’s musical history.
Michaela said: “Visitors to the workshop can use found objects, wire, beads and textiles to assemble a unique mini artwork to interpret a lyric.
“Whatever the influence, from Happy Birthday To You to Handel’s Messiah, you can create a musical masterpiece.”
Join Michaela at a free drop-in session from 1-2pm. Visit www.ragm.co.uk for more information.
