TALENTED artists from secondary schools in the town have contributed pieces to a new exhibition at Rugby Art Gallery and Museum.
Aiming High has opened in the Floor One Gallery and features a wide range of works, from drawings and paintings to textiles and photographs.
The pieces were created by pupils at five secondary schools – Ashlawn, Bilton, Harris, Lawrence Sheriff and Rugby High – as part of a project run by Rugby Art Gallery and Museum’s arts development team.
The project encouraged the schools to work together towards launching the Aiming High exhibition, sponsored by the Hinckley and Rugby Building Society.
The pieces were judged by members of Rugby ArtLab and Geneane Bell, a non-executive director of Hinckley and Rugby Building Society, with Lawrence Sheriff pupil Dylan James presented with first prize – a £50 town centre shopping voucher.
Rugby Borough Council growth and investment spokeswoman Coun Heather Timms said: “Rugby Art Gallery and Museum’s arts development team supports and nurtures the town’s artistic talent through distributing our arts grants and developing projects such as Aiming High.
“The quality of the works on display at the Floor One Gallery is a real credit to all of the schools involved and the talent of the young artists who have contributed to the exhibition.”
Aiming High runs at Rugby Art Gallery and Museum’s Floor One Gallery until Thursday July 13.
