Conservatives gain overall control of Warwickshire County Council

THE CONSERVATIVES have gained overall control of Warwickshire County Council.

The Tories, who previously led the council with 26 seats, won 36 of the 57 seats at Thursday’s.

Labour lost ten seats leaving the party with ten; while the Lib Dems lost one leaving them with seven. There are also two Greens, and two Independents.

In Rugby borough 43 candidates contested ten divisions. After the vote, it left the Conservatives with seven seats; Labour with two; and the Lib Dems with one.




The results from the respective divisions were:

Admirals & Cawston – seat won by Peter Butlin (Con)


Other candidates – Judith Barrett (Green), Lee Chase (Lib Dem), Frank McGowan (UKIP) Ish Mistry (Lab)

Benn – seat won by Alan Webb (Lab)

Other candidates – Graham Bliss (Green), Charlie Hull (Con), Hugh Trimble (Lib Dem), Marian Wakelin (TUSC)

Bilton and Hillside- seat won by Kam Kaur (Con)

Other candidates – Howard Avis (Lab), Kate Crowley (Green), Noreen New (Lib Dem)

Brownsover & Coton Park – seat won by Jill Simpson-Vince (Con)

Other candidates – Jerome Perrier (Lib Dem), Peter Reynolds (Green), Mary Webb (Lab)

Dunsmore and Leam Valley – seat won by Howard Roberts (Con)

Other candidates – James Harrison (Green), Bob Hughes (Lab), Laura Slinn (Lib Dem)

Earl Craven – seat won by Heather Timms (Con)

Other candidates – John Birch (UKIP), Scott Prior (Lab), Felicity Rock (Green)

Eastlands – seat won by Jerry Roodhouse (Lib Dem)

Other candidates – Tony Meeson (Con), Ellie Roderick (Green), Matt Weston (Lab)

Fosse – seat won by Adrian Warwick (Con)
