BUDDING local musicians and horseback acrobats will have their moments in the spotlight at this year’s Rotary Spring Fair – which received a four-figure funding boost.
Young performers from the Rugby Area Talent Trust (RATT) will have their own stage at the fair for the second year running.
Also returning this year are the Galloping Acrobatics team – thanks to sponsorship from Urban and Civic.
And the town’s three Rotary Clubs have received a £1,000 cheque from the Asda Foundation to help fund the annual jamboree.
Ken Ure, President of the Rotary Club of Rugby Saturday Breakfast, said: “This support ensures that we are able to commit to booking a variety of professional acts to entertain the thousands of people who we expect at the fair.
“We hope to raise over £10,000 for the many charities that Rotary supports and hope that the charities which have stalls at the Fair will raise a similar amount between them.”
Allie Scrace, the Community Champion at Asda’s Rugby store, said: “We were delighted to be approached by the Rotary Clubs, who do so much to support local community organisations and charities by organising the Spring Fair which is a great family fun event.”
Musicians from RATT sized up the area where they will perform when they met Mayor Coun Sally Bragg and Rotary representatives at the Whitehall Recreation Ground.
Coun Bragg said: “I am delighted that young people supported by one of my chosen charities, Rugby Area Talent Trust, are having this opportunity to perform in front of the great crowds which the fair attracts year after year.
“Having already heard them sing, I know we will be entertained.”
David Head, Chair and Co-Founder of RATT, said “This will be our second appearance at the Rotary Spring Fair and we hope to receive a similar boost for the charity to the one we achieved last year.”
The fair takes place at Whitehall Recreation Ground on Monday May 1.
