GARDENING gurus will be on hand to guide budding growers at a special event in the town centre tomorrow (Thursday August 4).
A group from Rugby Borough Council is teaming up with rangers from Rugby First and the Rugby Gardener’s Guild to present a Plant With Us event in Market Place.
They are inviting members of the public to learn how to grow their own plants and food, as well as receiving tips and advice from the experts. Everyone is invited, whether experienced or not, and all those who attend will be given their own plant to take away.
Carol Joiner, Vice Chair of Rugby Gardeners Guild, said: “We are delighted to be supporting this event and look forward to sharing our passion for all things green on the day.
“The Guild are very much about bringing local people together who are interested in gardening and we are always on the look at for new members.
“Come and see us on the day or find out more by visiting www.rugbygardenersguild.co.uk.”
The event runs alongside a visit from RHS Britain in Bloom judges, who be looking at the town’s horticultural delights on the day.
Chris Worman MBE, the council’s parks and grounds manager, said the judges will likely have high expectations due to the town’s succesful Britain in Bloom track record.
He said: “This year they are particularly keen to look at campaign activities that benefit local communities not just for the day but for the long term and I am sure they will be impressed by what they see and hear.
“This is the first of the Plant with Us events but hopefully one of many that forms part of an annual programme that will get us all thinking about planting.”
