New bus routes will help Rugby and Lutterworth commuters

SMOOTHER journeys are set for Rugby and Lutterworth residents as Stagecoach introduce changes to bus services across the area.

Following a review of its network around the two towns, Stagecoach is set to change a number of services – including a 33 per cent increase in buses running to the Daventry International Rail Freight Terminal (DIRFT).

With 7,000 people currently commuting to DIRFT, Stagecoach said they wanted to make sure the services were efficient.

Steve Burd, Managing Director of Stagecoach Midlands said: “We have seen terrific growth in the number of people travelling on our services to DIRFT and we are now stepping up the frequency to give people even more flexibility in getting to and from work.”

Another major enhancement to the services will be improvements to the Route Eight line between Rugby town centre and Magna Park – and some journeys will also now start and finish in Bilton.

Stagecoach has introduced a new ‘8rider’ ticket costing £15 a week for those just travelling exclusively on this new route.

The Rugby Megarider Plus ticket has also been extended to include Magna Park and offers travel between Coventry City Centre, Rugby, Magna Park, Long Buckby, Daventry and Southam for £20 a week.

There will also be changes to routes nine, ten, 12, 13 and 86. Visit www.stagecoachbus.com for more information.
