AN INVESTIGATION into a driving scam which has operated in the Rugby and Dunchurch areas over the last six months has seen a Coventry man charged with fraud by false representation.
In February officers warned motorists to be wary if they were flagged down by the driver of a vehicle that had apparently run low on fuel.
A number of similar incidents have been reported over the past six months, centred around the M45, the A5 and the surrounding areas. This is believed to be a nationwide scheme with a number of perpetrators involved.
On Monday February 29, 19 year old Saveriu Ion of Clements Street, Coventry was charged with fraud by false representation. He was due to appear at Leamington Magistrates’ Court yesterday (Wednesday).
