THE PAGES of literature came alive once again as Rugby schools marked World Book Day.
Students disguised themselves as their favourite literary characters for the 19th annual event, which celebrates authors, books and most importantly reading.
Harris Church of England Academy adopted a theme of science-fiction and fantasy and pupils joined in with real enthusiasm.
All day classrooms were filled with characters from The Hunger Games, The Divergent Trilogy, Maze Runner, Harry Potter, Alice in Wonderland and more – with prizes being awarded for the best costumes.
Activities took place in lessons including designing book covers, writing book reviews and creating bookmarks.
The main event was the Big Book Swap where pupils brought in books to donate and swapped them for another.

They were many princesses and superheroes at Bright Horizons Rugby Beehive Nursery and Preschool on Cromwell Road.
The youngsters brought in their favourite books to share with their friends.
Nursery Manager Nicola Patel said: “Throughout the year we try to foster a life-long love of reading as part of our Growing Readings bespoke programme.
“The World Book Day is a fantastic opportunity to celebrate the favourite children’s stories of all time and the enjoyment of reading.”
