A ROBBER threw a young boy to the ground while attempting to steal his mobile phone.
The boy, 14, was sitting in a passageway running parallel to St Georges Avenue when he was approached by the man at around 9:30am on Wednesday January 27.
As the boy stood up to check his phone, the man grabbed his arm and pulled him to the ground, and tried to grab the teenagers’s phone while he lay on the floor.
The 14-year-old managed to fend off the man who ran off along the bridleway.
Police are describing the offender as a black man of medium build, between 5ft 10ins and 5ft 11ins tall, with a goatee beard, and believed to be in his late teens to early twenties.
At the time time of the incident he was wearing a black hooded top, green trousers and white Nike trainers with either red or pink accents.
Shortly before the offence occurred, another man spoke with the boy. This man was carrying some milk and walking a dog at the time. He is described as between 50 to 65 years of age with greying hair.
Officers are keen to speak to this man as he may have information which may help the investigation.
