RUGBY Town ended pre-season with a hard-fought 1-0 victory against Step Four side AFC Rushden and Diamonds.
A second-half strike from Rivel Mardenborough ensured Grant Joshua’s side finished their pre-season schedule with a victory at Butlin Road.
Rugby won five out of six pre-season games with the club’s only defeat coming against Step Three opponents Bromsgrove Sporting.
Mardenborough broke the deadlock on 61 minutes when he drifted inside and produced a smart finish to settle the contest.
Rugby begin the competitive season with a trip to Histon on Saturday, July 25 with kick-off at 3pm at Bridge Road.
