THE SUN came out for Rugby’s first big town centre event of the year – the Spring Food and Drink Festival.
Hundreds of hungry Rugbeians packed out Regent Street on Saturday (April 25) to see what was on the menu.
The free event, organised by Rugby Borough Council, featured more than 50 food and drink stalls from local businesses, farms and producers, offering treats including paella, hot-steamed dumplings, loaded tacos, jerk chicken, churros and chocolate brownies.
In Regent Place, skilled woodcarvers and turners set up shop next to the Rupert Brooke statue to offer traditional woodworking sessions, giving attendees the opportunity to have a go at wood turning, chiselling and carving spoons or spatulas.
Children enjoyed face painting and food art, and had an opportunity to test their knowledge with a food and drink quiz.
Live music was performed by local acts Louis Bailie, Lee and Dunk, The Rock Choir, Bit the Pip and Sean McCausland.
As usual, The Observer popped along to take some photos of one of Rugby’s most popular events.
