Spring Fair set for early May Bank Holiday Monday

FAMILY fund-raising fun is the focus of Rugby’s Spring Fair next month.

Members of The Rotary Club of Dunsmore, Rotary Club of Rugby and Rotary Club of Rugby Saturday Breakfast are working with Rugby Round Table, 41 Club and Rugby Heritage Lions to stage the popular event, which has now been running for more than 40 years.

The fair, which takes place at Whitehall Recreation Ground on the early May Bank Holiday (Monday May 4), will feature a Kids Zone with bouncy castle, face painting, a flight simulator, Wolly The Clown and a supervised creepy-crawlies handling area.

Musicians – including the Rugby Ukrainian Singers will perform on stage, and Bilton Silver Band will perform in the bandstand.

Other attractions include around 60 stalls, a fun dog show, classic car displays, and food and drinks stalls.

Last year’s event raised more than £14,000 for charitable causes.

Event Project Manager Simon Maguire said: “Following on from the success of last year’s fair, the team look forward to welcoming over 4,000 people to the Whitehall Recreation Ground on May 4, where they will enjoy a great family day out as well as supporting local charities and businesses.

“Discounted tickets are on sale from our website for the rest of April.”

Marketing Lead Willy Goldschmidt said: “We are most grateful to our sponsors AJ Ashes, Bloor Homes, Custom Heat, David Gilkes Removals, Draycote Hotel, Vets 4 Pets, Wates Construction and Welfare Together Northampton as well as numerous advertisers, who together have enabled us to host many new performers and free attractions as well as sponsoring free children’s tickets for over 300 visitors, including 70 tickets for Young Carers.”

Parking near Whitehall Recreation Ground is limited. Attendees are encouraged to walk, cycle, use public transport, or make use of free parking arranged at John Barford Car Park – accessed via James Street and Railway Terrace – from 9am-6pm on the day of the event.
