RUGBY Borough slipped to a 2-0 defeat away at Lichfield City as the club’s five-game unbeaten run came to an end.

Goals either side of half time from Leighton McMenemy and Harvey Smith condemned Borough to defeat at the Trade Tyre Community Stadium.

The result means Rugby sit 12th in the Northern Premier League Midlands table.

Lichfield took the lead on 14 minutes when McMenemy headed in a cross from the right at the back post from close range.

The visitors won a penalty later in the first half only for Tyrell Waite to smash his spot kick against the crossbar.

And Lichfield sealed the points seven minutes from time as Smith pounced on a loose pass to burst through and find the net.

Rugby are next in action against Belper Town on Saturday, March 14 with kick-off at 3pm at Kilsby Lane.
