Schools called on to help raise cash for The Myton Hospices

SCHOOLS across Warwickshire are being encouraged to fundraise for The Myton Hospices.

Each year, the charity must raise over £12 million to run its services. Every donation, no matter how small, helps support people living with life-limiting illnesses and their families across the local community.

Schools play a vital role in Myton’s community fundraising efforts, with a wide range of activities designed to fit seamlessly into the school day while helping students develop valuable life skills.

The charity’s school fundraising programmes are designed to be easy, fun and rewarding for students, staff, parents and carers. To make taking part as simple as possible, Myton provides all supporting materials, including assemblies, sponsorship packs and certificates.

The activities inspire children of all ages to have fun while building confidence, compassion and a sense of community. Younger children can enjoy playful outdoor events such as Welly Walks and Funflower Walks, with all sponsorship materials provided. Primary-aged pupils take part in activities that encourage kindness, responsibility and teamwork, supported by assemblies, resources and a prize draw for every participant.

Older students are empowered to lead their own fundraising events, helping them develop leadership skills and community awareness, with their achievements celebrated through social media and shared storytelling.

Community fundraising manager Rachael Ryan said: “Seeing schools come together to support The Myton Hospices is truly inspiring. Every activity, big or small, helps us continue providing our vital services free of charge and teaches children the importance of kindness and community. Support from schools helps ensure more people can access the care they need and deserve – from providing patient meals to counselling sessions and hospice beds. A school’s involvement really can make a difference.”
