YOUNG players at Rugby Lions RFC fell silent to remember the fallen on Remembrance Sunday (November 9).
The club’s Cubs players – some as young as two years old – joined the Minis and Junior Girls on the pitch at Webb Ellis Road.
They presented wreaths to veterans Staff Sargeant Jim Roney of the Royal Corps of Transport and Major Roger Weddell, who served with the Royal Army Medical Corps.
After the wreaths were laid on the tryline, parent Sam Eggleton performed the Last Post on the trumpet before the two minute national silence was observed.
A play of Reveille concluded proceedings.
Minis and Juniors Chairman Jamie Lambert said: “I could not have been prouder of our young players, and our volunteers.
“We have been building up our Remembrance Sunday event over the last few seasons and I am delighted, as always, to have Jim and Roger to continue to take part.
“The introduction of Sam playing the Last Post has lifted the presentation to the next level and I look forward to watching this grow over years to come.
“This gives all of our young players much to aim for in their future endeavours and we are so proud to be able to show this display of respect at Webb Ellis Road.”
Following the presentation, members of the section took the wreaths to lay at St Mark’s church in Bilton.
